Inner Temple Portrait

Sir William Macpherson of Cluny, aristocrat, former soldier and retired High Court judge aged 72, was a controversial choice to chair the public inquiry into the racist murder of Stephen Lawrence that began in 1998. His conclusions on the performance of the Metropolitan Police Service were damning. This portrait by Bryan Organ is at the Inner Temple in London.
